Wooden Shafts

Greetings!

I'm currently conducting a polling of sorts. If you could answer the following questions, I would appreciate it.

  1. What types of wooden shafts do you (or other people that you know) use for combat arrows?
  2. What types of wood would you not use and please explain why (if any)?
  3. Any preferences on what type of wood you like or don't like to use? Why?
  4. Does your kingdom have any restrictitions on which type of wooden shafts are allowed?
  5. What's the most common type of wood in your area? In your kingdom?

Thanks.

These are the results I have so far:

1. "mix of pine, poplar, maple, alaskan yellow cedar and oak. I used 3M brand tape on all of them.

They all broke - I participated in the two fort battles had 3 unbroken arrows left out of 50. None broke completly - most were broken at a slight angle or were cracked and discovered during inspection. The type

of wood did not seem to make a difference.

If you have any questions, suggestions or comments, please let me know.
