Part I: Initial Testing

Pressure and Shot Tests

*Please submit a different report for each bow & each different modification used during testing, if you used more than one.

Kingdom and local SCA group name:

Bow/crossbow used, include type (crossbow, laminate recurve, solid fiberglass recurve, self wood bow, etc.) and poundage:

What type of shafts and/or bolts were used and their diameter?

If you used a crossbow bolt, what was the length?

Specify how you modified the Baldar Blunt?

Modification used, need specific measurements, like diameter of the end of the blunt, how much was cut off:

Date started testing:

Type of helm used and gauge:

(Gamma) amount of space between bars or width of slot/ocular, where the shot hit:

diameter of bars:

or thickness of the metal:

If used a testing box:

(Gamma) amount of space between bars or width of slot/ocular, where the shot hit:

diameter of bars:

or thickness of the metal:

Pressure Test

How many times did you attempt to force the blunt in between the bars or spacing on the helm?

Measuring from outside edge of the metal or bars (Delta), how deep did the blunt go inside the helm? This should measure from the outside/face the helm or the bars to the furthest point inside the helm. List the Delta for each test:

The Shot Test

What distance?

What did you use as a target? If the helm or test box listed above say that:

How many shots?

Any angle shots?

How many shots hit between the bars or within the gap(Gamma)?

How much was the Delta(measured as described above)? List each one:

What was used to determine whether the blunt did go between the Gamma?

Any problems?

Any additional Details?

Any problems with the rigid disk?

The Impact Test (remember no live testing, until it’s approved by the DSMCA in writing for live testing).  This is for any impact testing done without using live targets.

How many shots?

What distance?

What material did you use to measure the impact?

Did you have a different blunt to compare this to?

Details?

How many forward shots?

How many angle shots?

**Testing Plan:

Please give details here for what your testing plan is for this design. Which upcoming events are you planning on using these at, any specific tests or testers, etc? Basically what plan do you have for testing these blunts?

Testing Notes

* After each shot you should be looking (inspecting your arrow/bolt).

* Did you see any signs of progressive failure?

* Did you have any failures with no warning?

* Any additional thoughts or problems?
