Golf Tube Arrows and bolts
Requirements:
- Arrow shafts must be made out of golf-tube
material. The outer diameter of the tube is at least 1-1/4" in
diameter.
- Golf tube arrows are allowed to be up to
33" in length from the base of the blunt to the end of the nock.
- The nock can't be deeper than 1/2".
Basically, the nock end can't penetrate more than 1/2" into a
fighters helm.
- It must be reinforced using a rigid
reinforcement such as soda bottle caps, Siloflex plug, etc.. New designs
must be tested and approved before being used on the field. Reinforcing
the nock end helps to prevent it from collapsing and possibly entering a
helm.
- Fletchings are not required, but if you use
them.. Fletching must be made of soft, flexible material such as foam or
duct tape. The edges must be rounded.
- Additional weight beyond what is required to
construct the arrow is not allowed. However, solid (not spray)
insulation foam may be applied to the inside of arrow shaft, or double
tubing with a second golf tube may be used to add rigidity.
- All arrows must be marked with the owner's SCA
name and local group.
- Normally the only difference between a Golf
Tube Arrow and a Golf Tube Bolt
is the length of the shaft and how the nock end is done.
There are several different styles of
blunts/heads for Golf tube arrows. These are:
Tennis Ball : Must be tied on.
Foam head..
This can be just foam or foam and wood. Usually these are made in a style
similar to a thrusting tip.
GTB or Golf Tube
Arrow with a Baldar Blunt for the head/blunt.
