Fiberglass nocks

There really aren't any requirements for specific nocks to use for fiberglass shafts. Here are the versions that I know of:

Plastic Target Nocks: You can use a regular tapered style plastic (like what is used for target archery), but you have to taper the end of the fiberglass shaft. When you do this, you should wear gloves, goggles and some sort of mask, so you don't breath in the fiberglass. I recommend doing it outside. Putting a cloth or newpaper under the area that you are doing this, that you can just throw away is a good thing.

Carbon shaft nocks: If you buy shafts made for carbon shafts and I believe aluminum shafts, that is the easiest nock. With that style, double check that you have the right type, you don't need to taper the shaft. They all designed to slide over a solid shaft. You can also buy these from North Star Archery, listed on my supplier list.

UHMW: Sir Jon Fitz Rauf made some 5/8" nocks using UHMW. I really like these nocks, since it gives me something a bit larger to grasp when wearing gloves.

Rubber Bird Blunts/Schlager tips: You can mount these on the nock end of the shaft and cut a nock slot into the rubber tip, for the string. These are 5/8" as well and give you something to hold onto when shooting. These are much more expensive than the .08 or so for the UHMW nocks, but they don't take so much time or effort to make.

You can see the back is the rubber tip and the white is the UHMW. If you cut a slot of to one side, you won't hit your bow when releasing your arrow.

You can see the tip of the fiberglass pin, that is the backup to keep the nock in place. Put a dab of hot glue or something else for it, to help you feel which side is up (odd fletch), without looking. You still need to add an APD to these arrows, the pictures do not show that.
